Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2020

We talked previously in the year about Behr's Color of the Year 2020 and now its Sherwin Williams!  Naval SW 6244 is a beautiful color, plain and simple.  It has such a wide range of depth and simplicity and is dark and mysterious while being beautiful and bold.  This is one of my favorite Colors of the Year, in fact, it has been the color of my own personal house for 3 years.  We have helped clients come to the decision to use Naval on many occasions because of how beautiful it is.  

Color Trends 

The idea of color and how it trends really is amazing.  I believe its a culmination of Social Media posts from Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and much more.  I like to think of it as a wildfire.  It starts somewhere and the wind blows and boom, full-blown trend.  We have been watching the trends for years and watching the ebb and flow starting with one color and then as that fades another takes its place and sometimes eventually colors come back and combos come back. Color does things for peoples emotional well-being and in this time of uncertainty, painting your walls can provide a change in scene and a change in emotional state.

TRENDING ALERT!

The Johnson project was awesome. The family is a great client and adventurous with their trending choices! We loved working with them.  

As we have rolled into 2020 we have seen more and more customers moving to the lighter side of color!  Ultra Whites are the latest trending colors with our clients in Colorado.  

For so many years, the trend was to have an all-over color with wall accents to pop throughout the house or in a specific room, but now the trend is seeming to go the other way.  Wall accents are no longer in trend!  In fact grays are slowly going away and leaving room for fresh, clean white walls and white ceilings as well as trim and doors.  

On this 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we make a commitment to you, and the planet, that we will strive to reduce our footprint, recycle materials, reduce waste and contribute to our beautiful planet in a positive way.

In the construction business, there can be a lot of waste, with plastic, trash from prep materials etc.  As a company we have always, not just around Earth Day, but always cared for our environment and taken precautions whenever possible to use paint that has low or no VOC (volatile organic compounds), and recycle the paper that protects the floors or the plastic that protects the fixtures and furniture.

Behr has released their Color of the Year: Back to Nature.  They are hailing this color as "calm, gracious, and balanced".  

As we have been watching the trends happen both from Paint Manufacturers like Behr and Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore and watching trends from our customers, it seems that the latest color trends are leaning towards the lighter shades.  

What is a Paint Sheen and Why Does it Matter?

Wow, so you just bought a new house and its beautiful and you're super excited!  There's just a couple things you need to do before you move in, and one question you have is, Should I Paint Before I move In?

We would recommend it, for sure!  

Okay, All the big guns come out with their predictions of the Color of the Year and this year, Behr is coming out with theirs: Blueprint S470-5.  It's similar to the Color of the Year last year from Sherwin Williams, which was Oceanside, but the color sets are very popular which ever company you choose to use.
